Aoba Ward Office Artwork Restoration

Kanagawa Prefecture (Yokohama City)

Beforer Rstoration

The FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) had cracks and peeling paint in various places due to age-related deterioration. Rainwater had flooded through the deteriorated areas, and causing the interior to decay. The work itself was in a severly dangerous state, barely held in place by wires.

Work Method

The entire area was washed down with a high-pressure washer. We drilled multiple entrances into the interior  from which  we insert core material to reinforce the work itself. Various scratches on the surface of the work were repaired with resin, and the color was matched to the original color tone so that the seams would not be visible. The surface coating was applied to complete the work.

After Restoration

With the stains removed, the original color has been reproduced and the piece is now beautiful to look at. The interior has also been reinforced, increasing the strength of the work. The track of the holes that were opened to reinforced the work are barely noticeable.
